Rockstar Just Pushed GTA 6 Back Six More Months

Published on November 7, 2025 by Marvin Evans

GTA 6 delayed again. Yep, you read that right. Rockstar confirmed yesterday that the game won’t be released on 26th May 2026, as they had promised. New date? 19th November 2026.

This is getting ridiculous now. They had previously rescheduled it from 2025 to May 2026. And five months later, they’re now postponing it another six months. Fans are absolutely livid, and you can’t really blame them.

The announcement was made by Rockstar on 6th November via their Twitter. They apologised for the wait and trotted out the same jive about requiring “more time” to add an extra coat of “polish”. We’ve heard this before.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in August that his confidence was “very, very high” that the release date of GTA 6 wouldn’t be moved. Well, it turns out that conviction wasn’t worth a lot.

They have now announced another date, which is 19th November 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If they do actually stick with it now, though, it will have been almost three years since the first GTA VI trailer dropped in December 2023. That trailer’s had 475 million views, which is insane.

This is what actually makes people furious: the GTA 5 release date was September 2013. Thirteen years between games. Rockstar has been wringing every last penny out of GTA 5 Online while everyone waits for the follow-up.

Shares of Take-Two tanked after the news broke, falling nearly $30 in after-hours trading. Zelnick believes delaying is better than releasing a game that doesn’t work properly. He referred to other competitors that chose not to postpone and “did so, I think, at their peril.” Fair enough, but people are losing patience.

The game takes place in Leonida, and you go back to Vice City. You’ll play as Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a criminal couple. That sounds great, but we’ve been hearing about it for years.

No one has any clue when the GTA 6 pre-order will be available. Maybe closer to November 2026, if that date even holds. A few suspect that Rockstar might release another trailer to cool tempers, but nothing’s locked.

So there you have it. GTA 6 delayed to November 2026. Assuming it doesn’t get pushed back a third time, which at this point wouldn’t shock anyone. The wait continues.
