Laure Ferrari came to Strasbourg as a waitress with little more than a politics degree and a strong dislike for the European Union. Seventeen years later, she has become one of the most influential people in British politics, even though she is not elected.
It’s interesting that Reform UK is doing well. The party is built around sovereignty and tighter borders. Yet one of the people to its leader is a French national from northeastern France. That person is Laure Ferrari, Nigel Farage’s partner, adviser and political strategist.
Reform UK now has 25 to 26 percent in the YouGov and PollCheck figures from May 2026. Labour has 18 percent while the Conservatives have 17 percent. Laure Ferrari is a politician and political strategist. She has spent around two decades working with wing and Eurosceptic movements in Europe.
She is also Nigel Farage’s long-term partner. According to a profile in the French newspaper Le Monde, Ferrari has helped make some of Farage’s biggest decisions. One of those decisions was encouraging him to run for Parliament in 2024. He. Won the Clacton seat.

In 2007, Ferrari was working as a waitress at a Strasbourg restaurant with Members of the European Parliament. Nigel Farage and Godfrey Bloom were visitors. Ferrari, who spoke English and was politically engaged, began speaking with them. Farage needed a speaker and offered her a role as a parliamentary assistant. She accepted.
From there, her rise was fast. Ferrari became director of relations for UKIP’s European Parliament delegation from 2009 to 2014. She later stood as a candidate for the nationalist party Debout la France in the 2014 European elections.
Ferrari also appears to have had an eye for Farage’s public image. In 2023, when Farage was presenting on GB News but had no seat in Parliament, she reportedly pushed him to appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Her thinking was simple. The show could reach people who already had a view of him.
The gamble worked. The programme attracted an audience of 9 million viewers. Farage finished third. The year he entered Parliament.
The Controversies and the £885,000 House
Ferrari’s career has also faced scrutiny. As director of the Institute for Direct Democracy in Europe, she oversaw the handling of £613,000 in European Union taxpayer-funded grants.
In 2016, external auditors refused to approve the accounts. They cited financial irregularities. The European Union’s anti-fraud office, OLAF, opened an investigation. The matter was later passed to Belgian prosecutors.
Ferrari was interviewed by authorities in September 2025. She has not been charged.
Her spokesperson has repeatedly described the allegations as motivated and false.
There was also scrutiny around Ferrari’s property purchase in Essex. In 2025, she bought a four-bedroom detached home in Frinton on Sea for £885,000 in cash. Farage said he had no stake in the house and explained Ferrari’s ability to buy it through family wealth in France.
The arrangement also avoided around £44,000 in stamp duty. Ferrari has not been found to have broken the law.

Ferrari’s politics have not changed much over the years. She has always been driven by the same ideas: opposition to the European Union, stronger national control, and more direct power for voters. For nearly two decades, she has argued that the European Union takes too much authority away from ordinary people and weakens the democratic choices they make.
That view began with the 2005 referendum and was reinforced by her years inside the European Parliament.
Ferrari’s own political message is simpler: power should sit with voters, not institutions. “If people elect Nigel Farage “, she said, “they are not electing Laure Ferrari.”
